About Jesi

I'm Jesi Shearhod, a Pre-Licensed Professional (RMHCI) working toward full LMHC licensure, practicing under supervision.

Before I was a therapist, I spent thirteen years as a teacher. What I saw, over and over, was a system built for a kid who doesn't really exist — and the kids who didn't fit weren't broken, they were just being asked to squeeze into someone else's box.

I've watched adults do the same thing, quietly, with love and faith and family and even rest: fit themselves into a box they were handed and wonder why it never quite felt right.

Curious Grounding started with one idea — that getting curious enough to question that box is what lays the grounding for a life that actually feels like yours. It's why a kid learning to name a big feeling and an adult unlearning what they were taught to believe are doing the same work.

Everything I do here — the therapy, the regulation bins, homeschool support, all of it — comes from that same place.

A bit more about me, personally: my own path has included a lot of questioning — pulling apart the scripts I was handed about faith, relationships, and who I was supposed to be, and staying curious rather than settling for easy answers. That process is part of why I do this work — I don't just understand deconstruction intellectually, I've lived it.

I'm drawn to systemic work — looking at the whole picture, not just the person in front of me. That's part of why I work across ages, with adults, teens, and kids alike, and it's also where Homeschool Implementation came from: thirteen years in the classroom taught me exactly what a family needs when they're figuring out a kid's learning on their own — a real assessment, a curriculum that actually fits, and a schedule that works for their real life, not a textbook one.

I care about creating spaces that hold real depth, and real playfulness too. Outside of sessions, you'll usually find me outdoors — paddling, camping (solo trips and family trips both), soaking up as much time in nature as I can. I'm also a mom of two boys, and I've built a life and a practice that actually fit my family, rather than the other way around.
